There are so many changes going on around mac & murphy and we apologize for our lack of blog updates. We are currently in the midst of a total redesign of our website (with the wonderful team of Ink Meets Paper) , shooting all content for the store (with the amazing Charlotte Elizabeth Photography) and creating a blog resource directly link to our web content. Seeing as we are pencil & paper kind of gals, this has been no easy task and has kept our brains someone occupied. Couple that with a complete and total data loss and recent rebuild of our sales software and that makes for two very busy girls.

Today however, our little shop scored a major win.

Its been 3yrs in the making but we are finally carrying one of Liz Mac's favorite lines :

It was so fun seeing our friends from Yellow Owl Workshop featured in the latest J.Crew catalog with this fantastically unique correspondence set. We ordered these for the shop a few weeks ago and have been singing their praises since their arrival. Included is 12 notes sheets, 12 patterned envelopes and a pencil inscribed with Je t'aime, velos.

My goodness it's been a long time. We are oh so sorry to have neglected you all these months but we're back now and we promise to be much better friends. In fact, we plan on becoming a new, shinier version of ourselves in the near future so be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, we're happy to be here and will be back later today with a post featuring our favorite cards for this upcoming crappy (we mean sappy) holiday.

its round 2 for Linda & Harriett's letterpress tear-away postcard. this bad boy is a limited item and it will sell out fast so don't delay. seriously.

SusyJack* has been a favorite of ours (and yours) ever since we introduced her work to charleston back in early 2009 and right now we are LOVE LOVE LOVING what she has done to the next edition of her fabulous calendar. its a little larger all around which only gives you more to love.

Snow & Graham has created this beautiful desktop calendar for years and they are perfect for small spaces. we carry them in two sizes: small and, oh my, that really is quite small. both are adorable.

last but not least is our most favorite pocket datebook. it is PERFECT for any handbag. we have at least 6 amazing colors including gold, silver, teal, hot pink, chartruse and burnt orange. what will your 2011 color be?

only to mac & murphy would a non-real date ending in an awkward hug be the makings of a great love story, but to us, and for erin jones & steve higgins, it is!

after 2 years of dating and standing in line for more than 2 hours for a hot dog (where steve had the good sense not to propose), steve dropped a sparkler into a bottle of very expensive champagne and rather than history being made, their future was set.

erin & steve will wed in charleston in april of next year and we'll be there to help every step of the way because they will Be Our First!

congrats erin & steve - we look forward to working with the two of you!

mac & murphy along with Jess Riley PR and Twin Muses have teamed up with Adopt A US Soldier to honor active US military personnel. Adopt A US Soldier is a volunteer-based organization that connects supportive Americans (that's you!) with deployed soldiers and offers a channel by which to communicate encouragement and express gratitude to the brave men and women serving our country.

here's how it works:

1) stop into mac & murphy (74.5 cannon street) september 3 - september 10 and receive 10% off select letterpress and greeting cards

2) write a letter communicating encouragement, gratitude or try your luck at a witty joke...whatever you think will make a soldier's day

3) take a moment to write your message while in the store (you can sit in our writing garden!) or just drop your card back off at mac & murphy by september 10, and we'll take care of postage/shipping

We are thrilled to announce our grand opening at 74.5 Cannon Street in the Upper King Design District neighborhood of Cannonborough/Elliotborough. The mac & murphy retail space built in the 1920’s is believed to originally have been a cobbler’s shop and has been beautifully restored over the years. Gal pals, Liz Macpherson and Ami Murphy renovated the 750-square-foot space to reflect an enchanting, modern day jewelry box. This fresh feel was achieved by contrasting historic elements with vibrant splashes of color and clean lines. From the invitation studio, walk out back through century-old French doors to the terrace garden - a peaceful setting for writing, journaling or addressing a letter which you are welcome to leave in their post box for a real mailman to hand deliver for you. mac &murphy will even provide the stamp!
